ANTI-AGING & ANTI-SWEATING INJECTIONS
Complimentary Consultation included. Treatment is not performed without a thorough medical consultation with Dr Evaghoras.
What is Botulinum Toxin?
Botulinum Toxin is a muscle relaxant. It works by partially blocking the nerve impulses to any muscles that have been injected and reduces excessive contractions of these muscles. It can also be used to help block the pain from chronic migraine.
Muscle relaxant injections may temporarily improve the appearance of:
• Vertical lines between the eyebrows seen at maximum frown
• Fan-shaped lines from the corner of the eyes seen at maximum smile
• Forehead lines seen at maximum raised eyebrows
FINE LINES AND WRINKLES IN THE SKIN
Wrinkles are part of the ageing process. They can be attributed to sun damage, the effects of gravity and muscle contraction resulting from facial expressions such as frowning and laughing. Wrinkles due to the effects of gravity represent natural changes seen in the facial skin and the underlying fat, muscles and bones.
EXCESSIVE SWEATING
Also known as hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating can be a troublesome issue.
Suitability and details about the treatment is provided during the initial consultation.
What can you expect at the time of your procedure?
The muscle relaxant is directly injected into the muscles that cause the wrinkles, using a very small needle. Several injections are usually needed at specific sites, depending on the area treated. When used to treat excessive underarm sweating, local anaesthetic is applied to the skin first.
Is the treatment painful?
It is normal to feel a little discomfort when the liquid is being injected into the skin but this does not usually last long.
There may appear to be a ‘bubble’ where the injection has been placed which will disperse within an hour or so.
When can I expect to see the results?
The treatment results usually takes effect 2 weeks after treatment on the face. Its effects generally last for approximately 3-4 months. Sometimes longer lasting effects (9-12 months) are seen after treatment of excessive sweating.
What are the potential side effects?
It is not uncommon to have a mild headache.
Potential side effects associated with the treatments include temporary injection-site reactions such as:
• Redness
• Swelling
• Itching
• Pain
• Tingling/numbness
• Firmness/bumps
• Bruising
